Oh My Gosh... Midwest Weather

Yesterday I made light of the weather back in Missouri while complaining about ours here in the West. In my years in Missouri I just got used to these violent storms. They usually blew away a barn or tore up a bean field.

This morning I went online to look at the morning St. Louis Post-Dispatch only to learn nine people had been killed and that a lot of damage had been done by tornados. Talk about feeling just awful.

Guess that will get a check out of me for The Red Cross and a prayer for those harmed.

Wasn't pretty.

In reality...never seen anything like this before. The local news people were up all night on tv - so many effected areas with tornado warnings and tracking the system - they were having a hard time keep up with all the locations, updates, alerts etc. Crazy. Channel ten had all their weather people on staff and played an almost tag team reporting.

This morning, they said 97 verified touchdowns throughout the state.....out of a little over 100 sightings/potential viewings.
John and I were driving from KC to Columbia and that was pretty hairy. semis tipped /jacked knifed etc all over - left and right...one under an overpass had tipped over atop several cars...

I had 2 inches of golf ball sized hail all over my back deck from this storm.

Haven't been up on the roof yet. It was still nasty windy last night so I didn't want Jeff to go up there with all that wind. Perhaps I'll have him climb up there after work today weather permitting. From the ground it didn't look that bad but I didn't know what to look for (Kristi enlightened me on what I am to look for).

Ellie thought that she needed to bark like a crazy dog at the hail as it hit the front windows by the front door.

I just hope injuries and fatalities are kept to a minimum. It's moments like this that I'm actually glad we don't get to experience these extreme weather patterns in Aotearoa.

Those tornadoes are really terrible. I will be praying for them.

We are battening down the hatches for another storm coming in tonight. They are expecting snow down to 1200 feet (the Hick house is about 3500 feet.) Sunday it snowed down as low as Folsom...weird. I expect you will be receiving some of this also.
