Connecting with Old Friends
Rainy season is finally here in all its glory. Yesterday was cold and wet. I spent most of the day trying to figure out how to shake the bone chill.
This season also is the beginning of what the rest of the world considers to be Spring. The "golden" hills will soon be as green as those of Ireland. On sunny days, there is nothing quite as beautiful as this place in winter.
But on days like yesterday, it was cold, dark and wet.
It was a good day to reconnect with old friends.
Last night I found myself writing a long e-mail to an old friend, lady friend, back in Missouri. She's really a neat gal though we used to fight like cats and dogs. But we also shared a lot together. She mentioned that we all need a "witness to our lives," a line she heard in a movie recently. For several years we were witnesses to one another's lives.
That thought was with me when I woke up this morning.
It is likely going to rain again today. But somehow it will be a bit brighter for having connected with this old friend even if at only a distance. It's like having a "witness to my life," someone to share random thoughts, experiences and day-today "stuff."
