Summer Comes to Big Sur... Really! (A Pretty Nice Video Linked at Google)

As most folks know, when it's warm elsewhere in America, it's lousy here. As Mark Twain said, "The worst winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco." Same is true here 100 miles south of San Francisco.

Then, as the rest of America, particularly my old home Mazurah (aka Missouri) is eagerly anticipating their first ice storm of a long ice storm prone season, we go into our primo weather. It was 87 degrees today and filled with golden fall sunshine. Urahhhhh California!

So, at 5:30 this morning Anita and I made the 35 mile treck down to Point Sur to catch the sunrise. The overlook 300 feet or so above the sea just south of Bixby Bridge is usually freezing with freezing winds from the ocean you could swear were going to blow you over the edge and into the Pacific. Not so this morning. Even at that hour it was about seventy degrees with a gentle easterly wind bringing in warm dry air from the interior of the state. It was glorious.

So, we spent the next four hours documenting the birth of a new day.

You can see what we saw... and eat your hearts out!

Oh how I wish I was back there now. Definitely coming back in the Fall next time. However, I wouldn't trade the trek we made this summer for anything. Have a great Thanksgiving John. Love, Rosella
