Kodak Portra

My brother shot this with Kodak Portra. This film produces the truest color I have seen, far superior to any digital. Digital is chronically over-saturated which is pretty, just not particularly true to life. Other films produce lesser results. Portra is expensive, but if you are looking for realism, it is in a league by itself.

I think the quest to manufacture a camera that has true colour repreoduction will continue for all time. Just when developers get close enough, the standard of colour reproduction acceptability changes. I remember when colour TV came out and it took over for years Then a retro revolution of B&W television started with people wanting to see more B&W programs and movies on COLOUR TV. How ironic and rediculous we humans are sometimes!
This image is very sharp in the range of colours though, so I guess that speaks volumes for the product.

True to life is boring. I say over-saturate, over-sharpen and screw reality. ;) That's a joke of course. It is very easy and tempting, though, to boost boost boost until your picture resembles Joan Rivers face. And making a pretty picture for a 800x600 72 dpi web page is easy as a Martha Stewart prison term. Printing those babies is another story isn't it.
