Ruined Victorian Farm Home in the Salinas Valley
I was sorting through some shots tonight and saw this one and wanted to share it. The Salinas Valley is the setting for several Steinbeck novels, including East of Eden. This ruined house hails from that era. It sits by itself out on the broad expanse of the valley. It's a bit spooky.
Or maybe this caught my eye as I needed to be convinced that it is not always raining here.

I'm afraid I'm very much into "old" more than I am "new". The old aspect in this image is very sentimental even for me who has no relevence to it, other than viewing it. That is the expressive quality I enjoy about photography especially yours MJ. It creates an emotive and expressive response.
I'm a fan of John Steinbeck novels although I haven't read one for close to two decades now :(
I really like the framing here! Nicely done. Must have been quite a place in its day.
Not to worry ndiginiz, we have many homes from that period. Preservation is not a problem in California! Getting things done is a problem, but never mind that :)
Thanks for the very nice comments in my blog John. I left a description of the lens I use in response to your post. Always enjoying your work. Thanks.
Wow, this looks quite old! Very nice!
I've driven around the Salinas Valley a thousand times and just ovelooked This Old House. Superb texture.
I was raised in a 1880's, three story wooden house in SF, that was bleached and rotten. What an early life.
this building does look a bit spooky! nice pic John!
Cool shot. I like the old feeling to it. Something tells me that it might look even better in B&W
A great photo. The composition is perfect. I want to live in a house like that. Well, perhaps one that is in better shape.
Do you have more of these???
I love old architecture, this is a cool shot. I'm a fan of Steinbeck too. As a matter of face, I'm going to see the play "Of Mice and Men" on Friday.
